Maker Faire, Closed Mon. May 24th

Hey look, we're at Maker Faire!

Hey look, we're at the Solarbotics Office!

...

Hey look, we're like an  amoeba, splitting in half to be in two places at once.

Ok, here's the skinny -  Right now, most of our staff is US-bound to attend the previously mentioned MakerFaire in the San Mateo/Bay Area in California. If you happen to be near by this weekend (22nd and 23rd), be sure to swing by to say hello. And be sure to look around too, there'll be tons of neat stuff to see.

Back at the ranch (the Solarbotics ranch, that is), we're running on a bare-bones skeleton crew. We're still able to process and fill some orders, but there's a good chance there will be a 1-2 business day delay on some until most of the crew returns and we're back to full capacity. Due to the absence of our shipping staff, we are unable to process orders for either UPS or FedEx. It's also important to note that we will be closed on Monday, May 24th for Victoria Day.

So, a quick recap: Maker Faire - go to it. On Monday the 24th, we'll be closed. When open, Solarbotics core services (including telephone and email support, order processing, and package shipping) will be significantly limited. We will do the best we can, but can't make any guarantees until Wednesday of next week (the 26th) when we get back up to strength.

We apologize for the short notice, but the past few weeks have been rather crazy-go-nuts while we try to prepare for Maker. Thanks for your patience!

New GM11-14 mounting screws

BOY those are strange little screws on the face of the GM11-14 series of gear motors! 1.7mm diameter x 0.35mm thread pitch ain't a common bolt, but we found some 4mm long that we've made available for those of you looking for a precision method of mounting the motors. Check out part M1.7x0.35!

GM15 Dual-Deal; Microcontrollers!

Ok, now let's see some nano-sumo robots! "Wot's this? A microcontroller at Solarbotics??" Yup. The Atmel ATMega8L is part […]

Solarbotics at PDXBot04

Grant and I have been back from PDXBot a few weeks now, and I put together a wee movie showing off some of the (limited) video I shot. You get to see Grant winning 2nd place in Mini-sumo, me NOT using a camera correctly (I got record on/off reversed during a Grant/me match), and some […]

Solarbotics goes "Hip"

Solarbotics has been on "the internets" for quite some time now. We've seen many websites come and go, but we've recently jumped feet-first into the cold, frigid water of this "social web 2.0 happy fun time" thing we keep hearing about. I mean, it's Web 2.0. That's, like, twice as much as Web 1.0. And […]
