We use 3mm Sintra for building many of our robots because of its ability to glue well with epoxy and superglue, it can be easily cut, drilled and threaded for screw fasteners, and comes in white, black, dark blue, yellow and red.

You can easily shape Sintra by immersing it in hot water and bending it to your desired shape while it cools!

Just don’t use black Sintra with solar-powered robots – on hot sunny days, it’s been known to get soft!
Each sheet is approximately 8″ by 12″.

This 8×12 inch, 6mm thick expanded PVC sheet is extra thick for substantial stiffness. It’s smooth and easy-to-form with a knife, it glues very easily with superglue and epoxy.

The black-coloured Sintra absorbs heat very well, and BEAMbots built with it have been known to “melt down” a bit when put under strong lamps!

This 8×12 inch, 2mm thick expanded PVC sheet has excellent robot-building characteristics. Smooth and easy-to-form with a knife, it glues very easily with super-glue and epoxy. The picture is a comparison between the 2mm and 3mm white sintra.

The 2mm sintra is very flexible and can be cut with scissors.

This Line Following Robot is the main project outlined in David Cook’s Robot Building for Beginners book.

The kit comes complete with all electronic components necessary to build a fully functional Sandwich robot (Molex headers and batteries not included). It even includes the official PCB for easier assembly.  Add any of our 3mm Sintra to your cart to use as a base (instead of a sandwich container).  Basic Instructions included.

NOTES:

The Sandwich PCB Kit Includes

The book “Junkbots, Bugbots and Bots on Wheels” offers a variety of building projects, and to make it easier for you to get started, you can select this bundle for the Herbie Photovore Project.

Included Parts

Please note, you still require the book to build this project!

Note: You will still require to supply your own base material. In the book, we used scrap metal sheet, but you may find hot-water formable Sintra to be a good alternative.
