Them kids and their video games. Finally, there's a useful result of this technology! The 2.5-axis joystick on the PS2 controller is pretty cool. It's nice and smooth, and has that handy "press-down" select feature.
Here's a similar unit, much like the analog PS2 joystick, featuring a pair of 10k trimpots (plus the select button when you press down)..
