Tesla – not the car – invented lots of things. One of the more fun items is the Tesla Coil, which is a transformer that operates on the principle of resonance (resonance transformer), producing high-temperature and high-pressure plasma. Sounds boring?
Let’s put it this way: this tiny device can wirelessly transmit electricity, illuminate fluorescent lamps, and produce nifty little electrical arcs. Zappy zap zap!

While this device can be started with 9V battery (not included), to produce an arc, the working voltage needs 12V.  And of course, all necessary high-voltage safety precautions should be in place.
