Detecting motion is often done with beautifully created MEMS accelerometers and gyroscopes which do much more than just give you a motion-check. But often all you may need is a simple “”Is this thing moving?”” check. That’s where this module comes into play.

The SW-420 Vibration detection module features a shake-ball cylinder coupled with an LM393 comparitor to create a logic-level output normally-on signal. When there is sufficient G-force motion, the module toggles low, indicated by both an LED going out and a ground signal on the sensor pin.

The trimpot allows you to dial on how severe of a motion is required before it triggers the low-signal, ranging anywhere from a gentle tap to a vigorous shaking motion.
