Superflex LED Strings are really quite brilliant, and this one features a white LED located every 2.5 cm over 6m for a total of 240 LEDs. With a built-in resistor, this is a quick and easy way to add some light to your project.
Specifications:
- 6m long (20.65′) LED String
- 2.5cm (0.98″) spacing between LEDs
- 26 gauge Superflex wire (8 strands of 36awg wire around nylon core)
- LED viewable at ~0.05 mA/ea, functionally bright at 2mA/ea, very bright at 4mA/ea
- Colour: White
- Suggested current limiting resistor for Vs of 4.5V (3 cell operation)
- LED Vf = 3V, I = (0.002A * 240LEDs) ; R=(Vs-Vf)/I. Resistor = 1.5V/.480A = 3.2 ohms for subtle light. The resistor has to be rated (1.5V*0.48A) 0.72Watts or better
- LED Vf = 3V, I = (0.004A * 240LEDs) ; R=(Vs-Vf)/I. Resistor = 1.5V/.960A = 1.6 ohms for strong light. The resistor has to be rated (1.5V*0.96A) 1.4Watts or better
- Starting with a 10 ohm 1/2W resistor is safest. If you need more brightness, twist two together (head-to-head & tail-to-tail) to turn it into a 5ohm, 1W resistor.
- Suggested current limiting resistor for Vs of 3.7V (Lithium cell operation)
- LED Vf = 3V, I = (0.002A * 240LEDs) ; R=(Vs-Vf)/I. Resistor = 0.7V/.480A = 1.5 ohms for subtle light. The resistor has to be rated (0.7V*0.48A) 0.34Watts or better
- LED Vf = 3V, I = (0.004A * 240LEDs) ; R=(Vs-Vf)/I. Resistor = 0.7V/.960A = 0.8 ohms for strong light. The resistor has to be rated (0.7V*0.96A) 0.67Watts or better
- Starting with a 3 ohm 1/2W resistor is safest. If you need more brightness, twist two together (head-to-head & tail-to-tail) to turn it into a 1.5ohm, 1W resistor.
Note: Factory datasheets suggest the LEDs are 20mA rated, but 240 LEDs @ 20mA = 4.8A. 26 gauge wire is only 2.2A capable! Besides, we found powering up the strings over 15mA/LED causes stress to the LEDs closest to the power source (where the voltage is the highest). DEFINITELY run these at lower-than-maximum ratings!
Note: We noticed that some strands may have a few dead LEDs – we will replacement strings for you if there are more than 3 dead LEDs per string.
