Part of what makes the Lulzbot printers so good is the clever leveling mechanism they designed. It used the conductive touching of the nozzle to the plate to determine the platen adjustment, but that means the nozzle has to be clean. The Lulzbot literallly “wipes it’s nose” on this wiper before it levels the bed.

When should it be replaced? When the plastic build up is visible on the pad surface, and can no longer be picked clean.
