Simple USB Host Shield for Arduino
You want to plug your USB accessory into an Arduino? Not so easy, eh? Good think the geniuses at Circuits@Home came up with their USB Host Shield! Plug that USB keyboard into your Arduino!
This is another open-source hardware project we're carrying for Arduino. The great thing about the "Open Source Hardware" movement is that if you think you can improve on a design, you're fully welcome to. Well, we're smart enough to know that we don't know more than Circuits@home regarding USB, so we're happy to carry their USB Host Shield as part of our Arduino inventory.
This is revision 2.0 of USB Host Shield. Thanks to new interface layout it is now compatible with more Arduinos – not only UNO and Duemilanove, but also big Mega and Mega 2560 work with this Standard (5V) variant of this shield out of the box. No more SPI re-wiring and code modifications – just solder included stackable connectors (2×3 ICSP connector’s female side should be facing down), plug and play!
Arduino clones with standard connector layout, including ICSP connector, should work, however only BlackWidow has been tested so far.
