- What are my shipping options? Courier (UPS or Purolator)
All courier services have $100 worth of indemnity (insurance) included with the shipping price. This insurance cannot be removed to lower the cost of the shipment. If the value of your order (excluding tax and shipping) is over $100, we recommend that you purchase additional insurance to cover the full value of the order. If you decline insurance, your order will ship with the default $100 insurance only. If the package is lost or damaged, you will be not be covered for any loss over $100. By placing an order, you accept responsibility for the shipment when it leaves our facility.Air Mail (Canada Post and USPS Mail)
US / International: To the U.S., insurance is available for the Xpresspost shipping option and is strongly recommended for all orders shipped by this method. We are also able to offer tracking ability with this mailing option only.All shipments are F.O.B. our location, Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Solarbotics Ltd. is a web-based business and as such have designed our website to showcase our products far better than we could in even the largest showroom. We do not have walk-in, storefront retail space, but we do welcome people to drop by. All we ask is that you please call ahead of time as we want to ensure that the right people are available to help you when you arrive. Oh, and we also quite often have a dog on site. She is very friendly but her barking can be intimidating. If you are not a dog person, no worry! We can tuck her in the office, just be sure to mention this before you drop by.If you are in the Calgary area and wish to pick-up your order, simply include a note in your order and we will adjust the shipping charge for you before we process your order. So, you have the burning desire to determine your shipping costs, dates and delivery methods. Go to your cart (Click on ‘My Cart’ on the top-right, then hit the ‘Go to my cart’ link), and at the bottom you’ll find a magical ‘Get Shipping’ button. This contraption has the unparalleled power to calculate all your shipping options and costs based on exactly what you have in your cart. Just fill in your country and postal code and we’ll present you with available methods, estimated arrival dates and (of course) the cost.From this screen you can choose to continue shopping or proceed to the checkout. This function is particularly helpful when you have a budget to adhere too as it allows you to modify your cart contents and complete as many shipping estimates as necessary to find the perfect delivery method for your needs. Rates depend on location, shipping method and total weight of the product in your cart.
- Free Shipping Conditions
We provide free basic ground shipping on online web orders over $75 (or more) of eligible products that are going to the United States and Canada. For you to be eligible for free shipping you will need to order a minimum of $75 worth of eligible product, the $75 must be eligible products only and not include taxes. Free shipping is for online orders only and does not apply to phone/fax/special orders/quoted orders.All Available and Back Ordered products are currently eligible for free shipping. Special Order products, such as Sherline Machining Tools are not eligible for free shipping.When you select the Free Shipping option we ship via USPS/Canada Post Regular Postal Mail, this option does not provide shipment tracking or package insurance. For those who would like shipment tracking and/or package insurance, we provide a reduced price on our priority ground options for eligible orders. Free shipping cannot be combined with any other special offers or discounts. Additional charges will apply to subsequent shipments for orders with backordered items that are to be shipped partial.
- How We Determine Shipping Rates
How does the magical ‘Get Shipping’ button work? We calculate your shipping cost on the final weight and size of the products selected. We’ve trained 6 Tibetan lawn-gnomes to call the major shipping company as soon as you click ‘Get Shipping’ to give you the most accurate shipping costs. Solarbotics is not one of those companies that makes a profit on shipping (unlike many sellers on that major auction website). If you want to come on over on your sled-dog team to pick up your order yourself, we won’t even charge you a packaging fee. As a matter of fact, we’ll most likely even give your lead dog a free biscuit.
- Shipping Cutoff Time
Generally speaking, Solarbotics does same-day shipping. As long as you get your order submitted before 2:00PM MST (during non-holiday weekdays), there’s a good chance that it’ll get processed, wrapped up, and sent out the door with the courier that very afternoon. Special and back-ordered items and unusually large orders may take additional time to process and ship, but you will be notified in case of any significant delay.
- Are there any handling charges?
We charge a $5.00 handling fee for all orders that are under $30 (CAD/USD) when you view your cart there will be a large notification at the top that tells you if your cart total is less than $30. This notification will also tell you if a handling charge applies. Please note: We also charge this handling fee on orders that are placed via the phone.
