Never mind that 10 block line-up at your local home electronics store. Solarbotics is where it’s at this holiday season for great quality, inexpensive robots and parts. Feast your eyes on the packages of motors, wheels, kits and supplies which are all over 20% off the regular two-for pricing!!

  • Do you want motors and LOTS of them??
  • Do you want wheels for your gear motors?
  • Do you want the BEST Mini-Sumo on the market?
  • Do you want a great head-start on your next robotic platform?

Sales are on until the first full week of January, so you have lots of time to play with all your Christmas presents (Gotta get Dave to stop playing with his mini-RC tanks…) and eating all that caramel popcorn. THEN, come back and get stocked up for the long winter or robot-building ahead of you.

There’s still a bit of time left if you’re dropping hints to your loved ones about what you want for Christmas!

Just in time for Christmas! This is truly one of the better beginner books about robots. It’s a great gift idea…

No matter that we’ve been beating this website up for the better part of 6 months, you guys still find some bizarre bugs. Thanks to all that have been sending in the bug reports. We’ll get the fly-swatter out Monday to squish them.

Thanks again for all your (mostly very positive) feedback!

    Dave Hrynkiw, President

There is still time for residents of the US and Canada to get your order before the holidays if you select the Air Mail or Express shipping methods.

    Latest order dates:

One of the many neat little things that this new web site was able do for us is to completely revamp our entire shipping options setup.

We are proud to be able to drop the prices on several Canadian and International shipping methods, as well as even introduce some new options.

I hope you enjoy using the new web site, and look forward to any feedback you may have.

See more on the shipping details page.

Welcome to the new Solarbotics Website! You’ll notice some substantial upgrades. We’re on our own server, which means very quick and speedy surfing. The website is also totally re-written from scratch. This is a double-edge sword, as this means we’re still working on re-porting over older documents, like the BEP applications.

Look! A search button! And check out the “Resources” tab – it summarizes all the documents, videos, pdfs, etc from the whole website. Give us a few days to finish repopulating them – we’ve got some pretty spanky additions to make! Oh, if you’re looking for the old website in case if you’re in need of the old BEP applications and the like, it’s still available at http://oldsite.solarbotics.com

    Feedback welcome!

Kyle Simmons has been very busy lately, particularly being on TV! If you’re getting the Canadian Discovery Channel, check him out tonight on ‘Daily Planet’ (22 minutes into the program). Hmmm…. nice kits you’re featuring there!

For those of you who missed it, EXN.CA has the clip online!

We’re starting to get feedback on Sumovore modifications by our customers. Like, turning the Sumovore into a Room-rover. Or 18V motor operation modifications. Or ‘Kaoken’ double-voltage adrenaline charges when pushing an opponent. All sorts of stuff!

We’ll start featuring these modifications shortly, but until then, you may want to take a look at our own Grant McKee’s personal page on the Sintra-stiffener hack he’s implemented. We’re looking at making this a permanent addition to the Sumovore kit, but until then, visit his site for details!

Grrr… Time to start handing out the 1000 lashes with a wet noodle. There’s a few pricing errors in the new catalog 6:

    • The RM2 motor is not 2 for $10.75/ea CDN – it’s 1 for $3.40 or 2 for $2.85/ea CDN
    • The SC2422 solar cell is not 2 for 2.55/ea USD – it’s 2 for $3.25/ea USD
    • The GM8 and GM9 gear motors are not $5.50/ea – they’re $10.55/ea CDN

Sorry about the confusion, folks. I wish we could afford to honour the under-pricing and correct just the over-pricing, but we have a staff to feed and free community servers (www.solarbotics.net) to support!

Fixed a reset problem in the sumo code, turns out the a If…Then statement does not store its location on the stack. Ergo the return instruction at the bottom of the turn function was pulling a random location.

Anyway a change from a return to a goto and everything is shipshape, savvy? Then download the new Minisumo_linefollower2 code.

You will need to download the Editor
from Parallax to load and edit the code.
